Bintulu expecting Chinese tourists?

This is the main street when you drive into Bintulu town proper.  However the signboard seen today is not the norm.  Is Bintulu expecting Chinese tourists?  In the Parliament session yesterday, the Tourism Ministry encouraged the use of mutli-language signboards in certain locations. For example in Kuala Lumpur, where there are hundreds of thousands of Middle East tourists coming yearly, the use of Arabic in the signboards will help the tourists to find their way around KL. By the same virtue, is Bintulu expecting more Chinese tourists soon?

Plastic Flowers will do

These artificial flowers overflow into the sidewalk.  Made from plastic these flowers will find their way to households, cars, offices, restaurants etc, for their lasting appeal and low maintenance value.  Freshness aside. The display technique I think is eye catching though it tends to crowd the sidewalk.

Gawai Season in Bintulu

Gawai Dayak which falls on 1st of June is celeberated as a public holiday here in Bintulu, just like any other places throughout Sarawak. Along this sidewalk at Medan Jaya, Bintulu is a string of bantings auguring the Gawai season of festivity.

Rockery by the Sidewalk

It is interesting to see this group of rocks that are installed by the sidewalk in front of Farley Supermarket, Medan Jaya, Bintulu. I would like to blog more on Bintulu sidewalks from now on. I thought this picture will break initial ground on what is meant by sidewalk to many people. It is interesting to note here a feeling of "solidness" in this grouping of boulders and accentuated by a clever use of plants.
